New CME-Only Modules Address Current Issues in Risk Management
MLMIC is pleased to announce two additions to our series of online Risk Management CME Modules: “Current Issues in Risk Management,” Parts 1 and 2. Among the risk management topics covered in these new CME-only modules are physician advertising, telephone triage, electronic health records and use of voice recognition software.
Available in two parts, “Current Issues in Risk Management” is delivered by a panel of physician experts and an attorney specializing in healthcare law. The modules address a number of important risk management and patient safety topics. Specifically:
- Part 1 addresses physician advertising; special risks in caring for geriatric, pediatric and highly emotional patients; dealing with the medically compromised driver; and managing telephone triage in the office practice setting. Completion time for this course is 1.5 hours.
- Part 2 discusses the current liability issues and risks associated with the use of electronic health records (EHRs) and voice recognition software. The completion time for this course is 1.25 hours.
Policyholders can register for, begin or continue MLMIC CME programs online here. Each course must be completed within 60 days from the date it is begun.
Physicians completing these CME-only modules will earn AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. Non-physicians will receive a certificate of completion. No premium credit is offered for the completion of these modules, nor will they qualify physicians for participation in the excess medical malpractice insurance program.
