Physician Smartphone Use Can Impact Patient Data Security
As technology continues to become more commonplace as a means of communication in all aspects of our lives, it is important for healthcare providers to remain vigilant regarding the exchange of sensitive, protected patient personal health information (PHI) over electronic devices.
Smartphones, tablets, and other devices should have data encryption to help prevent the potential for breaching patient confidentiality. Auto-locking and remote wiping functions also help to provide security in the event a device containing PHI is lost or stolen.
