MLMIC’s risk management team continues to enhance its resources for physicians and hospitals. “Risk Management Tips – Volume II,” the second installment of a well-received series, is available online in two different ways: as a single brochure and as individual tips.

MLMIC’s updated risk management tips are available to download both individually and as a multi-tip brochure. The new PDFs make them easier to share as you review and reinforce policies and protocols within your practice or facility.

Discharge of a patient from care can be complex, but these patient discharge recommendations provide some guidance.

Lack of health literacy can make effective communication with patients a challenge. At stake may be inability to comply with treatment regimens, give informed consent and use medication properly.

Dental practices should develop protocols for tracking consultations, including patient compliance, and documenting conversations between referring and consulting dentists. In addition, patients’ dental records should reflect referral compliance (or non-compliance) and include related correspondence.

Providing for the safety of patient, staff and providers by performing necessary inspections and maintenance of equipment is an important part of office practices today.

Educating patients about their prescription medications and keeping medical records updated with prescription information both help to ensure patient safety.
