The Albany Report: Governor Proposes NYS 2025-26 Budget

MLMIC’s The Albany Report offers policyholders a concise, insider’s view of pending legislative, regulatory and political developments that impact physicians, dentists, hospitals and other healthcare professionals practicing in New York State. The latest edition focuses policyholder attention on the latest developments related to the 2025-26 Budget, the Grieving Families Act and the Medical Indemnity Fund.
Specifically, the March 2025 issue of The Albany Report details these items of interest to the New York State medical professional liability insurance market:
- A summary of the budget proposal for the fiscal year beginning April 1, 2025.
- An update on the 2025 Version of the “Grieving Families Act” Bill introduced in the Legislature.
The March 2025 edition also provides insights on other legislative updates, such as the New York State Department of Health Roundtable on March 14, 2025, which discussed public policy solutions to address fiscal concerns with the Medical Indemnity Fund.
Together with our medical partner organizations, we will continue to seek sensible reform that balances the uneven playing field regarding medical malpractice lawsuits in New York.
You can access additional details in the April 2025 edition of The Albany Report here.
